Ann Thomson

Ann Thomson is Professor of European Intellectual History at the European University Institute at Florence. Educated at Oxford, she has taught at the universities of Algiers, Caen and Paris. Ann Thomson has interests in early modern philosophy and the history of science, and in cultural transfers and the translation of ideas, especially between the Islamic and Christian worlds. Her most recent project is the natural history of man in the eighteenth century. She is a lead organiser of the project 18th Century Translators Dictionary.
